Lake Malawi Safari '06'
After the two dives at these Islands we headed off to "Nick's Place" on Chizumulu Island.
Here just in front of Nick's Place we can find the Astatotilapia sp. "calliptera chizumulu" which is the black colored form of this fish. This color form is found no where else in the Lake.

It was later in the day when we got here and we pitched our tents beside the bar, had a good meal and went to bed early.
Not being in a rush and starting to catch on to "Malawi Time" we planned two dives for the day, the first being at Same Bay and the other ended up at Machili Island, which is part of this Chizumulu group of nearby islands. While the wind kept Same Bay cloudy the water at Machili Island, due to its rocky shore, was very clear. This was great for picture taking!

There is always lots of action going on around you while diving these area's, this unlikely diving spot at Machili Island sported plenty of this behavior. Probably no one has ever dove here, the fish were not shy at all, even the ones that usually are!

At this diving spot there were many "Marmalade OB" male zebra's, which in my experience is not uncommon at Chizumulu Island area.
