Lake Malawi Safari '05'

We carried on in a southerly direction and dove at Mbowe Island again this year. I may seem to be interested in the Perspicax group this year, but, they just kept presenting themselves. I had over looked this species in 2003. They are as fast as bullets!

Protomelas ornatus, a beautiful fish was a bit shy, but I got a decent pic!

Diving at Lions Cove was very nice the water was clear and sediment free,,, a nice change from the open Lake where currents stir up the bottom.

The "haze" in the village picture is from the local natives burning the mountain side.

Pseudotropheus Polit was not quite as rare as one would think. Males were everywhere but not to many females were sighted.

Moving along southerly we end back at Nkhata Bay. We camped overnight at the Chicale Beach Resort, actually right on their beach! The next day we had the opportunity to dive at one of the points between Mundola Point and Nkhata Bay. There were lots of the usual fish that I have photographed back in 2003 but I had the opportunity of getting some of the others I did not have!Champsochromis caeruleus,Nkhata Bay

While the Cynotilapia are common in and around Nkhata Bay,,,,finding a Champsochromis caeruleus swimming by in color is pretty darn rare!
