Lake Malawi  Safari '03'

Farther up the coast we  dove at Usisya's, Tchinga Reef. The water topside was a bit rough, so the bottom was stirred up, but still clear enough for some good pics. I found this a very interesting reef with all its rock formations and grottos. The reef is surrounded by sand, depth was only 30 feet. The fish species were quite diverse for a smaller size reef.

At Sanga I found one of my favorite Afra's, the Lions Cove type, which I raise at home. The Aulonocara here are showing more red on the posterior of the body. The reef here is a large out cropping of rock and sand , with the rock side taking you right down to your maximum diving depth.Aulonocara stuartgranti"sanga"Cynotilapia afra "Sanga",Lions Cove type

At Mbowe Island there are two quite different areas around the island. One side being the deep side and the other being shallower, around 35-40 feet. The shallow side was interesting and I finally got some good pics of Dimidiochromis kiwinge in his large sand nest.
