Lake Malawi Safari '02'
As we approached Charles Bay, Mozambique we suited up and started our dive out by the point. We where looking for some old elephant or hippo bones that some of the other guys had found in 1999,but came up empty handed. Copadichromis verduyni are fairly deep dwellers, the depth here was well past 50 feet. Copadichromis sp. "three spot eastern" was found in a sandy nook along the shore in 15 feet of water.

Jody had a problem with his regulator and shared Art's extra. This bay is a fantastic place to dive. The water is crystal clear, rocky on both sides and has a large sandy area where it is fairly shallow. As a result the cichlid fauna is very diverse.

As well as a great dive site the beach area is great for camping. The deeply carved out bay remains calm and the Lady Louise was anchored only 50 feet from shore in 5 feet of water. Dennis watches the propane stove, this was a new item for the trip, which saved us carrying around charcoal! The sunken log was in approximately 5 feet of water close to shore, the visibility here is easily 50 feet.
