                  Lake Malawi Safari '07'

Well, it was time to move on, to another reef that I had never been to before, Luwala Reef. (south east of Makanjila Point) This reef is well under the water and can barely be seen from the surface, a GPS unit is used so that we drop the anchor right on the top of the reef.

Metriclima zebra here at this location are a nice blue black with yellow tipped dorsal fin and caudal. This was my first time photographing Aulonocara maylandi, and there were lots of them.

Sciaenochromis fryeri lurks close to 'Kampango' nests looking for a meal. The females of this species seem more abundant near these nests, as this is the only time I have observed female S. fryeri! Hemitaeniolatus spilopterus, lurks under a rocky ledge. This fish is one of Malawi's 'paedophages', it steals fry from other brooding females.Copadichromis insularis

Psuedotropheus flavus

On my way heading to Cape Maclear, I stopped at Chinyankwazi for a dive, producing some interesting shots and some seldom observed fish. When I took a picture of this bottom right fish I thought it was a large Ps. demaisoni! (which it is not!)
