                  Lake Malawi Safari '07'

As soon as I returned from my dive the next morning, we headed in the direction of Chiofu Bay, eating breakfast on the way. Stuart Grant maintains a camp site at this location and this would be home base for a few days.

Crystal clear waters around the Chiofu Camp. Starting out from shore the fish are right there, Melanochromis johanni, was an easy picture this time with the new camera! They just move to erratic and fast. Out farther from shore and a bit deeper, Cynotilapia sp. 'mbamba' types are common.

Down deeper yet, around the 130 foot depth you find one of my new favorites, Copadichromis geertsi. At this depth the water still maintains a 78o F temperature! You can check back to last years Safaris pics, Martin Geerts was with Ad and I. This fish is named after him.
