                  Lake Malawi Safari '07'

On the first morning after setting up camp I headed for the 'Boarder', which is the Malawi/Mozambique boarder line. This is a collecting site and was a very good dive with crystal clear water. Entering the water here, there were lots mbuna scattered over small rocks then as you travel farther from  shore the bottom layers itself with rock shelves and then onto sand. You can get very deep very fast here.Protomelas virgatus 'east coast'Copadichromis verduyni

At the 40 foot level you can find Protomelas virgatus and Copadichromis verduyni, both these fish are commonly found along this eastern shoreline. (Boarder to Makanjila Point)Cynotilapia sp.'dwarf', 'boarder'Metriclima chrysomallos 'boarder'

Around the 20 foot mark you can find Metriclima chrysomallos and at the 80 foot mark Cynotilapia sp. 'dwarf'.

Moving down between the 'Boarder' and Chiofu, Gome Rocks are known for their abundant fish species, there are more species found at this one spot than almost anywhere else in the Lake.
