Lake Malawi Safari '01'
This years Malawi Safari was two years in the planning and Ad Konings met up with us at Gatwick airport. Security was on "High Alert" as this was only a little more than a week after 911! We had to lug all our equipment from Heathrow to Gatwick!
I returned to Lake Malawi in 2001 armed with a new digital camera, with an underwater housing. I began taking pictures as soon as possible, Stuart Grants grounds were magnificent! Our rooms are pictured here.

The indoor fish house vats are where the shipments come in from the lake. They are treated with antibiotics for scraps and fin damage. The fish are also brought here before they are shipped out of the country. This is the staging area for all shipments. Aulonocara species are located here and are not housed in the out door vats.

On sight, Stuart has more than 500 vats, with the majority outside. The vats pictured here are filled with mostly "Haps". Our Safari Leader, Ad Konings, returns from the indoor fish house with his laptop. This is where all my pics were downloaded to, for this year.
