Lake Malawi Safari '99'

Chimyamwezi Island, in Lake Malawi pictured left, is another crystal clear location to dive at. One of only two spots in the lake where Pseudotropheus Flavis come from (not pictured). Protomelas taeniolatus "fire blue" may already be extinct. This fish will take a fisherman's hook and line. None where observed diving at this location in 2002.

Labeotropheus fuelleborni "chimyamwezi island" (left) with a different color pattern than we usually see in Southern Ontario, Canada. Tropheops sp. (right) with  "OB" coloration are not really as rare as one might think.

Thumbi Island West, is part of the Malawi Nation Park. It is visited by most tourists who come to the area to dive. Glenn Marshall and Tom Herman returning to our boat, the Lady Louise. This area around the island is shallow enough to snorkel and there are 1000's of cichlids to see!
